Is the Rumpelstiltskin Tip-Toe Meme From a Real Movie?
October 18, 2026
The clip looks so much like an '80s fantasy film that many viewers went looking for the movie. There isn't one.
It is AI-generated
The scene was created with AI video tools by artist Tatyana Tereshchenko (@stroinaya) and posted on Instagram in August 2026. It has no source film, cast or director.
Not the 1987 Rumpelstiltskin
Cannon released a musical Rumpelstiltskin in 1987, and it was the most common guess. Its imp looks and moves differently, and the barn tip-toe scene isn't in it.
Not Shrek
Shrek Forever After (2010) has its own Rumpelstiltskin villain, but he is animated and nothing like the live-action look of the meme.
Not an old Russian film
The warm, grainy look reminded many people of Soviet-era fairy-tale films, which helped the rumour spread. It is a style the AI imitated, not a real film.
How to spot it
Watch the hands, the straw and the background: details shift slightly between frames, a common sign of AI video. Want to see yourself in that style? Make your own version.
